Storms River marks the eastern end of the Garden Route, where the forest gets denser, the air cools and the Tsitsikamma’s famous suspension bridge and canopy tours draw adventurers. It’s a small village, but it eats surprisingly well. Here’s where to go, with the full Storms River list for everything.
Don’t-miss experiences
Fynboshoek Cheese is the area’s standout — a family-run artisan cheese farm deep in the Tsitsikamma offering tastings and farm-fresh platters. It’s a genuine destination, not just a meal. For something completely different, Kasi Corner serves authentic township cuisine and traditional South African dishes with real warmth.
Hearty forest meals
After a day on the trails you’ll want comfort food. Tsitsikamma Gardens’ Tilly’s Restaurant does hearty home-cooked meals amid the forest, while Misty Mountain Reserve feeds hikers with generous mountain-lodge fare. For pizza and craft beer, Tsitsikamma Micro Brewery hits the spot.
On the coast
If you make it down to the rugged shoreline, Storms River Mouth Restcamp inside the Garden Route National Park has ocean-view dining beside the dramatic river mouth — one of the most spectacular settings on the route.
Nearby
Storms River pairs naturally with a day trip from Plettenberg Bay (about 45 minutes west) and the quiet beauty of Nature’s Valley. It’s the perfect grand finale — or starting point — for a Garden Route trip.
