Wood-fired specialists
K-risp Pizza in Denneoord, George has a cult following for its crispy, properly wood-fired bases. For an Italian sit-down with pizza and handmade pasta, Polpetta Ristorante and Portobello Italian Kitchen are both George standouts.
Beachfront and views
In Hartenbos, beachfront Ilmazzo does authentic Italian with ocean views, and the surf-café New Wave Village in Victoria Bay serves pizza with good vibes right by the break.
Pizza + a pint
The Garden Route’s breweries make some of its best pizza. Red Bridge Brewing Co in Knysna pairs wood-fired pies with house beer in a dog-friendly garden, and Tsitsikamma Micro Brewery does the same in Storms River.
Pizza + wine
For something more scenic, Bramon Wine Estate near Plett serves pizza and tapas under the vines.
